How long it typically takes to solve a software related problem?
Most support sessions take about an hour. The session may be much shorter or longer depending on the number of and severity of issues. In some cases when a computer is heavily infected with viruses and/or spyware, work may need to continue in-house.

How long it typically takes to solve a hardware related problem?
Hardware issues will vary. The typical hardware repair time is usually about a week depending on the issue. Most parts are shipped from a supplier to reduce overhead costs (and pass savings on to you). At times we may have used parts that are compatible with your system, thus reducing repair times.

Do you fix laptops?
Yes!

What about my files?
In most cases we can recover your files. However, there are some times that we cannot. If your files can be recovered they will be saved to an external media source like a CD or DVD.

There are places we can send your hard drive in an attempt to recover your data. However, this process gets VERY EXPENSIVE. Our best advice is back up your data, on an external source.

I'm concerned about privacy, who will see my files?
We take your privacy VERY seriously. We understand that some things on a computer can be of a sensitive nature. We do not store or distribute anything on your computer without your permission. When recovering data we only see file names and we do not open files.

If there is sensitive information on your computer, let us know and we can take extra security precautions.

What do I need to drop off to get my computer fixed?
If it is a laptop just bring the laptop and the power cord. If it is a desktop just bring the tower. If you are not sure how to disconnect or reconnect everything let us know, we can stop by and pick it up at no extra charge.

What is this going to cost me?
Every situation is different. Many variables include but are not limited to the age of the computer, parts if needed, time needed to repair... the list goes on.

Labor is by the hour ($40.00) rounded to the 1/2 hour with a 1 hour minimum. Parts are extra. At times we may have used parts on hand that are compatible with your system. If used parts are available you will have the option to choose between new and used.

Is my computer even worth fixing?
This all depends on you, your needs and your budget. Once we determine the problem we will consult you and make available every option. We will never try to upsell anything to you or suggest anything you don't need.

How will I know what's right for me?
It all boils down to what you want your computer to do and your computer budget. For example if you are just going to use email, social networking and type up a document once in a while you don't need a full blown gaming system. We won't sell you what you don't need. We will meet with you and find a computer that fits your needs now and possible needs in the future.

What is the difference between custom built and that Walmart or Best Buy special?
While there are many mass produced computers on the market they are made like they are mass produced. I like to compare them to a disposable lighter. You use them for a while and when they fail you throw it away. For some people mass produced computers work. However, something that fits better always feels better. Plus a custom built computer can usually be upgraded without the expense of a whole new system.

Also, a custom computer comes with a 'clean' OS install. This means that all that software you will never use will not be running in the background slowing your computer down.

What about disposal of my old computer?
Many cities charge a small fee for computer disposal. However, we do not because we recycle them! Recycling comes in many forms. Sometimes usable parts are used in other older computers that are compatable. Other times various usable parts are used to assemble a computer for a family in need at a minimum or no charge at all. A computer in a landfill when there is still life in it for someone in need just doesn't make sense.
